Xiaomi Redmi 12 — Full Specifications, Features & Price in Pakistan

The Xiaomi Redmi 12, launched in June 2023, was Xiaomi's big-screen budget statement: a 6.79-inch 90Hz Full-HD+ display, a 50MP triple camera with a real ultrawide, and IP53 splash resistance — features rarely bundled at this price. It was officially launched in Pakistan, so PTA-compliant local units exist alongside imports. This guide covers its verified specifications, how it compares with the Redmi 12C, and the listed price.

Design and Build Quality

The Redmi 12 measures 168.6 x 76.28 x 8.17 mm and weighs 198.5 g — a large phone that stays reasonably slim at 8.17 mm. The back uses a glass-like finish with a distinctive camera island, and the phone carries an IP53 rating for dust and splash resistance — a genuine, certified step up from the P2i coatings on older models. The side-mounted fingerprint sensor is fast. Colours include Midnight Black, Sky Blue, and Polar Silver, with regional variants sold under names like Moonstone Silver and Jade Black.

Display Features

The 6.79-inch IPS LCD is the largest screen in this slice, with 1080 x 2460 resolution (about 396 ppi), a 90Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness rated at 550 nits with an SGS low-blue-light certificate. In plain terms: sharp text, smooth scrolling, and decent outdoor readability — one of the best budget displays of 2023. The punch-hole front camera keeps the look modern. It is still an LCD, so blacks are greyish next to an AMOLED panel.

Processor and Performance

The MediaTek Helio G88 returns here — the same 12nm octa-core chip (two Cortex-A75 at 2.0 GHz, six Cortex-A55 at 1.8 GHz) with a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU as in the Redmi 10 Prime. In the Redmi 12 it is paired with up to 8GB of RAM, which keeps everyday multitasking comfortable: social apps, streaming, browsing, and light games all run fine. It is not a gaming chip — demanding 3D titles need reduced settings. And it is 4G-only; the 5G sibling (Redmi 12 5G, Snapdragon 4 Gen 2) is a different phone.

RAM and Storage

Configurations range from 4GB/128GB up to 8GB/256GB (eMMC 5.1), with virtual RAM expansion available to stretch multitasking. Storage is eMMC 5.1 rather than UFS, so large installs are slower than on the Redmi 11 Prime — a real trade-off. One practical catch: the microSD slot is shared with the second SIM (hybrid slot), so you choose between dual-SIM and storage expansion. The 8GB/128GB or 8GB/256GB variants are the sensible picks.

Camera Features

The triple rear camera is the Redmi 12's camera highlight: a 50MP main sensor, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro, with 1080p video at 30fps. The ultrawide is the differentiator — none of the other models in this slice except the 10 Prime have one. Daylight shots are good for the class; the ultrawide is usable in good light. The 8MP punch-hole front camera handles selfies and video calls. Low-light performance is average, as expected at this price.

Battery and Charging

The 5,000mAh battery delivers a comfortable full day of use, with Xiaomi rating it for long talk and standby times. Charging is 18W wired over USB-C. One thing to know: the retail box does not include a charger — you supply your own 18W (or better) adapter. No wireless charging.

Software and Updates

It launched with MIUI 14 on Android 13, and GSMArena lists an upgrade path to Android 14 with HyperOS. Xiaomi announced multi-year update support for the Redmi 12 series, but as a 2023 model the remaining window is limited — check the actual unit's software version and security patch level before buying, especially for a used unit.

Connectivity and Additional Features

4G LTE with dual Nano-SIM (hybrid slot), dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB-C, NFC, an IR blaster, FM radio, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The side-mounted fingerprint sensor supports AI face unlock as well. IP53 dust and splash resistance is certified. A complete connectivity sheet with very few gaps for a budget phone.

Variants, Colours and Availability

Variants include 4GB/128GB, 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB, and 8GB/256GB. Colours: Midnight Black, Sky Blue, Polar Silver (India adds Moonstone Silver, Pastel Blue, Jade Black naming). Distinguish it from the Redmi 12 5G (Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, different camera setup) and the Redmi 12C (Helio G85, HD+ display, microUSB). Unlike the older models in this slice, the Redmi 12 had an official Pakistan launch, so locally sourced units exist — still, verify the specific unit.

Price in Pakistan and PTA Information

The listed price is Rs. 32,000 on the Zohaan Mobile Gallery product page (verified 2026-10-11). This is the store's listed price, not a live market quote — confirm the current price before buying, especially since this model now trades mainly as used or older stock. Because it had an official Pakistan launch, PTA-compliant units are common, but always verify the specific unit's IMEI by SMS to 8484 before paying.

PTA: PTA approval applies per device and IMEI, not per model. How to check PTA approval. Used phones at Zohaan Mobile Gallery carry the store's 7-day check warranty.
