Design and Build Quality

The Y22 measures 164.3 x 76.1 x 8.4 mm and weighs 190 grams, with a plastic back and frame finished to resist fingerprints and light scratches. The rear panel has a subtle textured look that keeps it from feeling like a plain budget slab.

Splash Resistance and Fingerprint Sensor

The phone carries an IPX4/X5 rating, meaning it resists splashes and light dust — useful, though it is not waterproof and should never be submerged. The side-mounted fingerprint sensor sits in the power button and unlocks quickly and reliably, a practical choice at this price.

Display Features

The 6.55-inch IPS LCD panel uses an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1612 pixels (about 270 ppi) with a waterdrop notch. Brightness is rated around 530 nits, adequate for indoor use and acceptable outdoors. The HD+ resolution keeps the price and battery consumption low, though fine text is less crisp than on Full HD panels.

Refresh Rate

The launch specifications list a 90Hz refresh rate, which makes scrolling feel smoother than basic 60Hz budget screens. Some regional spec listings show 60Hz instead, so treat 90Hz as the launch specification and verify on the actual unit if it matters to you.

Processor and Performance

The 12 nm Helio G85 pairs two Cortex-A75 performance cores at 2.0 GHz with six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores at 1.8 GHz and a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. It is a proven budget gaming chip: everyday apps run smoothly, and popular games like PUBG Mobile and Free Fire run at playable settings. It is not a flagship chip, so the highest graphics settings are beyond it.

For a used buyer, the G85's maturity is an advantage — its behaviour and thermals are well known, and there are no surprises. Still, check that the specific handset does not lag or heat up abnormally during a quick test.

RAM and Storage

The Y22 was sold with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of storage. vivo's software can add up to 2GB of extended (virtual) RAM. Storage is a particular strength here because the phone has a dedicated microSDXC slot alongside the two SIM slots, so you can expand storage without giving up dual SIM.

• Configurations: 4GB + 64GB, 4GB + 128GB and 6GB + 128GB were sold in different markets.

Camera Features

The rear camera pairs a 50MP main sensor (f/1.8, PDAF) with a 2MP macro camera (f/2.4) and a dual-LED flash. The 50MP main camera uses pixel binning for detailed daylight shots, and night mode helps in low light. Video is limited to 1080p at 30 fps.

Rear Camera Setup

The 50MP main camera is the clear highlight — sharp daylight photos for a budget phone. The 2MP macro is a basic close-up sensor. There is no ultrawide camera on this phone.

Front Camera and Selfies

The 8MP front camera (f/2.0) handles selfies and video calls adequately in good light and records 1080p video — functional rather than a standout, which is normal at this price.

Battery and Charging

The 5,000 mAh battery is the Y22's biggest practical strength. Combined with the efficient HD+ display, it comfortably delivers a full day and often stretches into a second day of moderate use. Charging is 18W wired — not fast by current standards, so a full charge takes a couple of hours. There is no wireless charging.

• Used-phone note: battery health matters most on older units — ask about screen-on time and check for swelling before buying.

Software and Updates

The Y22 launched with Android 12 and Funtouch OS 12 in most markets (the first Indonesian release shipped with Android 11 under Funtouch 12). As a 2022 budget phone, its official update window is short — check the installed Android version on the specific unit and assume security patches will be limited.

Connectivity and Additional Features

The Y22 is a 4G-only phone — there is no 5G. It supports dual 4G VoLTE on two nano-SIMs, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and USB Type-C with OTG. Practical extras include an FM radio and a 3.5mm headphone jack. NFC is not included on the Indian/global variant.

Variants, Colours and Availability

RAM/storage combinations of 4GB + 64GB, 4GB + 128GB and 6GB + 128GB were sold across markets. Colours are Metaverse Green, Starlit Blue and Summer Cyan. The phone launched in Indonesia and India in 2022 and was sold across South and Southeast Asia, so units are common in the Pakistani used market.

Price in Pakistan and PTA Information

Store Price at Zohaan Mobile Gallery

Zohaan Mobile Gallery lists the Vivo Y22 at Rs. 34,999. Used-unit prices depend on variant, condition and battery health.

PTA Approval and Used-Phone Checks

PTA approval is per device and per IMEI. Before paying, dial *#06# and check the IMEI on the PTA DIRBS system. Also confirm the exact model name — Y22, not Y22s or Y22 5G — in the phone's settings, since similarly named models have different chips and prices.
