The Vivo V23 5G is vivo's selfie-focused V-series phone from early 2022, built around the MediaTek Dimensity 920 chipset, a 50MP eye-autofocus front camera with a dual-tone spotlight flash, and a colour-changing glass back. It targets buyers who want premium design and the best possible selfies at a mid-range price. This guide covers its verified specifications, how it differs from the V23e, the price listed by Zohaan Mobile Gallery and the checks that matter when buying it used.

Design and Build Quality

The V23 5G measures 157.20 x 72.42 x 7.39 mm and weighs just 179 grams in Stardust Black — remarkably slim and light for a 5G phone. It uses a glass back with a flat aerospace aluminium frame, a design that feels more premium than curved-glass rivals.

Colour-Changing Glass Back

The Sunshine Gold variant uses Fluorite AG glass that changes colour when exposed to sunlight or UV light, shifting across a spectrum of tones. The effect is subtle and eye-catching. Stardust Black keeps a soft-touch matte finish that resists fingerprints and feels pleasant to hold.

Display Features

The 6.44-inch AMOLED panel offers FHD+ resolution (1080 x 2400), a 90Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support, with a 98 percent NTSC colour gamut. Colours are vivid and blacks are deep, as expected from AMOLED, and the screen is protected by Schott Xensation Up glass.

Flat Panel and 90Hz Refresh Rate

Unlike the curved displays on later V-series phones, the V23 5G uses a flat panel, which many buyers prefer — screen protectors fit easily and accidental touches are fewer. The 90Hz refresh rate keeps scrolling smooth while using less battery than 120Hz panels.

Processor and Performance

The 6 nm Dimensity 920 pairs two Cortex-A78 performance cores at 2.5 GHz with six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores at 2.0 GHz and a Mali-G68 MC4 GPU. Everyday performance is smooth, multitasking is comfortable, and popular games run well at medium to high settings.

For used buyers, the Dimensity 920's efficiency is a plus — it stays cooler than older flagship chips. Still, test the specific handset for unusual heat or stuttering before buying.

RAM and Storage

Two configurations were sold: 8GB RAM with 128GB storage, and 12GB RAM with 256GB storage. The RAM is LPDDR4x. There is no microSD slot, so storage cannot be expanded — buyers who shoot a lot of 4K selfie video should prefer the 256GB variant.

Camera Features

The rear camera combines a 64MP main sensor (f/1.89) with an 8MP ultrawide (f/2.2) and a 2MP macro (f/2.4), supported by an LED flash. The 64MP main camera takes detailed daylight shots and supports Super Night Mode for low light. Video recording reaches 4K.

Rear Camera Setup

The 64MP main camera is a capable all-rounder for its class, with good detail and vivo's colour tuning. The 8MP ultrawide handles landscapes and group shots, while the 2MP macro is a basic close-up sensor. The rear camera does not have optical image stabilisation.

Front Camera and Selfies

Eye AF keeps faces sharp even when the subject moves, and the dual-tone spotlight flash provides natural-looking fill light in the dark. Selfie video goes up to 4K at 30 fps — rare at this price.

Battery and Charging

The 4,200 mAh battery is modest by today's standards but was typical for slim 2022 phones. Expect a full day of moderate use. The 44W FlashCharge is the saving grace: vivo rates it at 1 to 68 percent in 30 minutes, so short top-ups add a lot of charge. There is no wireless charging.

• Used-phone note: on a 2022 phone, battery degradation is the main concern — check screen-on time and look for swelling before buying.

Software and Updates

The phone launched with Android 12 and Funtouch OS 12. Given its early-2022 launch, official updates are now largely behind it — check which Android version the specific used unit runs and whether security patches are recent, and assume limited support going forward.

Connectivity and Additional Features

The V23 5G supports 5G SA/NSA on a wide band list (n1, n3, n5, n8, n7, n20, n28, n38, n40, n41, n77, n78) with dual 4G VoLTE fallback on two nano-SIMs. Wi-Fi ac (dual-band), Bluetooth 5.2, GPS with BeiDou, GLONASS, Galileo and QZSS, USB Type-C and OTG are included. vivo's spec sheets list NFC support, though NFC availability can vary by regional variant. The in-display fingerprint sensor unlocks quickly.

Variants, Colours and Availability

Configurations: 8GB + 128GB and 12GB + 256GB. Colours: Stardust Black and Sunshine Gold (the colour-changing one). The phone launched in India in January 2022 and sold across Asia; units in Pakistan are typically imported, so check the specific unit's bands and PTA status.

Price in Pakistan and PTA Information

Store Price at Zohaan Mobile Gallery

Zohaan Mobile Gallery lists the Vivo V23 5G at Rs. 45,000. This is the store's catalog price from the October 2026 import and has not been verified against current market prices — confirm the latest price with the store before visiting. Used-unit prices depend on variant, condition and battery health.

PTA Approval and Used-Phone Checks

PTA approval is per device and per IMEI. Before paying, dial *#06# and check the IMEI on the PTA DIRBS system. Non-PTA phones can face heavy taxes or blocked network access. Also confirm the exact model name — V23 5G, not V23e — in the phone's settings.

Main Advantages and Limitations

Main Advantages

• 50MP eye-autofocus front camera with dual-tone spotlight — exceptional selfies.
• 4K selfie video recording, rare at this price.
• Colour-changing glass back in a slim 179-gram body.
• Flat 90Hz AMOLED — practical and easy to protect.
• 44W charging refills fast; wide 5G band support.

Limitations to Know

• 4,200 mAh battery is modest; check degradation on used units.
• No microSD expansion; no OIS on the rear camera.

Who Should Consider This Phone?

The V23 5G suits selfie-first buyers above all: vloggers, content creators and anyone who takes a lot of front-camera photos and video. The slim design and colour-changing back also appeal to style-conscious buyers. It is less suited to heavy gamers, buyers who need all-day-plus battery, or anyone who wants long software support.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the price of the Vivo V23 5G in Pakistan?

Zohaan Mobile Gallery lists it at Rs. 45,000 (catalog price, unverified against the current market). Used prices vary with condition, variant and PTA status — confirm with the store.

How does it differ from the Vivo V23e?

The V23 5G uses the Dimensity 920 with a 50MP eye-AF selfie camera, while the V23e is a separate lower model with a different chip and cameras. Verify the exact model name in settings.

Does the Vivo V23 5G support 5G?

Yes — 5G SA/NSA across a wide band list, plus dual 4G VoLTE.

Is the Vivo V23 5G PTA approved?

PTA status is per device. Check the IMEI on the PTA DIRBS system before buying.

Does the back really change colour?

Yes — the Sunshine Gold variant's Fluorite AG glass shifts colour under sunlight or UV light. The Stardust Black variant does not.

Final Verdict

The Vivo V23 5G remains a distinctive used buy for selfie lovers: the 50MP eye-AF front camera with spotlight flash and 4K selfie video is still unusual at this price, and the slim colour-changing design stands out. The Dimensity 920 handles daily use smoothly and 44W charging keeps the smaller battery practical.

Before buying, check battery health carefully on a 2022 phone, verify the IMEI's PTA status, and confirm the exact model variant. At the store's listed Rs. 45,000 (unverified against the market), it is a fair pick for camera-first buyers who do not need the latest software.
