Design and Build Quality
The Pova 5G is a big phone — 172.8 x 78.2 x 9.1 mm and 196 g — with the Pova line's bold styling and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. Aether Black is the confirmed colour. The large footprint is the price of fitting a 6.9-inch screen and 6,000mAh battery; one-handed use is unrealistic.
Display Features
The 6.9-inch IPS LCD delivers 1080 x 2460 pixels (~389 PPI) at a 120Hz refresh rate — a standout combination for the price: Full HD+ sharpness plus smooth scrolling and gaming. In plain terms: this display is the phone's biggest selling point, giving flagship-like smoothness for video, social apps and games.
Processor and Performance
The MediaTek Dimensity 900 (6nm) is a genuine mid-range 5G chip: two 2.4 GHz Cortex-A78 cores, six Cortex-A55 cores and a Mali-G68 MC4 GPU. It handles demanding games at respectable settings and multitasks easily — a clear step above the Helio G-series chips in cheaper Tecno phones. No benchmark scores are claimed here; the chip's architecture is the fact. Performance-wise, this is the strongest phone in this batch of articles.
RAM and Storage
8GB of RAM (plus 3GB of virtual RAM) with 128GB of fast UFS 3.1 storage — UFS 3.1 loads apps and games noticeably quicker than the eMMC/UFS 2.x storage in budget phones. A dedicated microSD slot (up to 128GB) adds room without sacrificing a SIM.
Camera Features
The rear setup is a 50MP main camera (wide, PDAF) with a 2MP sensor and QVGA helper plus a quad LED flash — effectively a single-camera system in practice, with 4K time-lapse and 1080p@30fps video. The 16MP front camera gets dual LED flash for low-light selfies. Daylight photos are strong for the price; the helper sensors add little.
Battery and Charging
The 6,000mAh battery is built for marathon use — Tecno rates standby at up to 775 hours — and the Dimensity 900's 6nm efficiency stretches it further. Charging is 18W, which is slow for a battery this size: expect a long full refill. This phone is for people who value endurance over quick top-ups.
Software and Updates
The Pova 5G launched on Android 11 with HiOS 8.0. As a 2021 model, it is past Tecno's official update window — do not buy it expecting newer Android versions. When buying, confirm the software is on its final build and that all Google services work normally.
Connectivity and Additional Features
5G (SA/NSA) plus 4G LTE, dual Nano-SIM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS with A-GPS, FM radio, USB Type-C 2.0 with OTG and a 3.5mm audio jack. NFC is listed as market/region-dependent and was not officially confirmed — do not assume it is present on the unit you buy.
Variants, Colours and Availability
The verified configuration is 8GB + 128GB in Aether Black. Multiple 2026 sources describe the Pova 5G as expected-to-launch or discontinued in Pakistan — it never had a confirmed official Pakistan launch. It is distinct from the Tecno Pova 5 (Helio G99, 4G) and the original Tecno Pova (Helio G80) — different models, different chips.
Price in Pakistan and PTA Information
WhatMobile lists an expected Rs. 44,999; mobileinto (2026-10-09) lists an expected Rs. 45,999; PriceOye shows the model as discontinued. There is no verified current retail price — the phone never had a confirmed official Pakistan launch. Confirm availability and price with Zohaan Mobile Gallery before making plans.
PTA: PTA approval applies per device and IMEI, not per model. Send the phone's IMEI to 8484 and confirm "Compliant" status before paying. How to check PTA approval.
