Samsung Galaxy S9 Price in Pakistan & Specs
Samsung Galaxy S9 — Full Specifications, Features & Price in Pakistan
The Samsung Galaxy S9 was 2018's flagship: a 5.8-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED display, the Snapdragon 845, a variable-aperture 12MP camera, and IP68 water resistance. In 2026 it is discontinued and trades only as a used phone — but it remains one of the cheapest ways to get a true flagship display and build. This guide covers its verified specifications and what to check before buying one used.

Design and Build Quality
The S9 is a proper flagship build: curved glass front and back with an aluminium frame, IP68 dust and water resistance (up to 1.5m for 30 minutes — but note that seals degrade with age and repairs, so treat any used unit as splash-resistant at best). At 163g with a 5.8-inch screen it is compact and premium-feeling — a size no longer made.
Display Features
The 5.8-inch Super AMOLED Infinity Display is the S9's crown jewel: QHD+ 1440 x 2960 resolution (~570 ppi) with HDR10 support — sharper than most 2026 budget phones. Colours are vivid, blacks are perfect, and it remains a genuinely excellent media screen. It is 60Hz, so scrolling is less smooth than modern 90/120Hz phones.
Processor and Performance
The Snapdragon 845 (10nm) with Adreno 630 was the 2018 flagship chip; Pakistani units may instead carry the Exynos 9810 — performance is broadly similar. In 2026 it handles daily apps fine but shows its age in heavy games and with only 4GB RAM. Battery age also affects real-world smoothness. These are manufacturer specifications, not independently tested performance.
RAM and Storage
4GB RAM with 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB storage, expandable via microSDXC (uses the shared SIM slot on dual-SIM models). 4GB RAM is tight by 2026 standards — expect apps to reload when switching. Prefer the 128GB variant over 64GB.
Camera Features
The S9's signature camera trick is the variable aperture: the 12MP lens physically switches between f/1.5 and f/2.4 for better low-light and daylight shots — a feature Samsung later dropped. It has dual-pixel autofocus, OIS, 4K video at 60fps, and 960fps super slow-motion at 720p. In good light it still takes pleasing photos, but it has no night mode and no ultrawide — modern budget phones beat it after dark. Inspect the lens and test autofocus on any used unit.
Battery and Charging
The 3,000mAh battery was modest even in 2018, and every used S9 in 2026 has a degraded cell. Battery condition is the critical check: ask about screen-on time, check for swelling, and factor a battery replacement into the price. Charging is 15W wired (Quick Charge 2.0) plus 15W wireless charging — the wireless option is a nice bonus at used prices.
Software and Updates
The S9 stopped at Android 10 (One UI 2.5) — no Android 11 or later, and no security patches since 2021. This is the biggest practical limitation: some apps now require newer Android versions, and the lack of security updates matters for banking. Confirm your essential apps still support Android 10 before buying.
Connectivity and Additional Features
4G LTE, dual Nano-SIM (model-dependent), Wi-Fi 802.11ac (dual-band), Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX, NFC, GPS/GLONASS/BDS/Galileo, USB Type-C 3.1, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Flagship extras: heart-rate sensor, barometer, and Samsung DeX support (desktop mode via dock). Biometrics: rear fingerprint sensor plus iris scanner.
Variants, Colours and Availability
Storage variants: 64GB, 128GB, 256GB. Colours: Midnight Black, Coral Blue, Titanium Gray, Lilac Purple (Burgundy Red, Sunrise Gold, and Ice Blue came later in select markets). Discontinued since 2019 — every unit in 2026 is used. One Pakistani price site lists it as used/refurbished only, with expected prices around Rs. 74,000 that do not reflect the real used market — confirm the actual price with Zohaan Mobile Gallery.
Price in Pakistan and PTA Information
There is no official Pakistan price — the S9 is discontinued and trades used only. Online figures vary wildly (Rs. 28,999–91,000 across sources), which shows how unreliable listings are for an 8-year-old phone. The real price depends on condition, storage, and battery health — confirm with the store.
PTA: PTA approval applies per device and IMEI, not per model. Before paying, send the phone's IMEI to 8484 and confirm "Compliant" status. How to check PTA approval.
Main Advantages and Limitations
Advantages:
- QHD+ Super AMOLED with HDR10 — still a superb display
- True flagship build: IP68, glass and metal, 163g compact body
- Variable-aperture camera with OIS and 960fps slow-motion
- Wireless charging, 3.5mm jack, heart-rate sensor, Samsung DeX
- Iris scanner + rear fingerprint options
Limitations:
- Stuck on Android 10 with no security patches since 2021
- Tiny 3,000mAh battery, always degraded on used units
- 4GB RAM — app reloads in 2026
- No ultrawide, no night mode, no 5G
- IP68 seals degrade with age — don't trust the rating on a used unit
Who Should Consider This Phone?
Good fit: buyers who want a premium compact phone with a top-tier display for media at a used price — a secondary device, or a collector — and who verify battery, screen, and PTA status carefully.
Look elsewhere if: you need current security updates, all-day battery, or a daily driver for years — modern budget phones are safer long-term bets. Browse the Samsung collection or all mobiles.

Final Verdict
The Galaxy S9 in 2026 is a display-and-build bargain with a software expiry date: the QHD+ AMOLED and IP68 body still feel premium, but Android 10's ceiling and a worn 3,000mAh battery demand a careful, price-aware buyer. At the right used price with a fresh battery, it is a delightful compact media phone; at inflated listing prices, walk away.
