Design and Build Quality

The Galaxy A24 follows Samsung's 2023 A-series design language: flat edges, a clean back with three separate camera rings, and no camera island. The frame and back are plastic. The fingerprint sensor sits in the power button on the right side - fast and reliable, though not the under-display type found on pricier models. A 3.5mm headphone jack is retained, which budget buyers in Pakistan still value. There is no official IP dust/water resistance rating, so keep it away from rain and dust. Launch colours were black, burgundy, green and silver; confirm the unit's colour with the store.

Display Features

The display is the A24's strongest selling point: a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution (1080 x 2340) and a 90Hz refresh rate. This was a genuine upgrade over the PLS LCD of the Galaxy A23 it replaced - deeper blacks, stronger contrast and more vivid colours, plus up to 1000 nits of peak brightness for outdoor visibility. The Infinity-U waterdrop notch houses the 13MP selfie camera.

Processor and Performance

The MediaTek Helio G99 is a 6nm octa-core chip (2x Cortex-A76 at 2.2GHz + 6x Cortex-A55 at 2.0GHz) paired with a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. In everyday use - WhatsApp, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Chrome with multiple tabs - it is smooth and responsive, and Samsung claimed roughly 1.5x the speed of its predecessor. It handles light gaming acceptably, but heavy 3D titles need reduced settings, and the chip lacks a 5G modem, so this is strictly a 4G device.

RAM and Storage

Samsung sold the Galaxy A24 in 4GB, 6GB and 8GB RAM configurations, all with 128GB of internal storage. The 6GB and 8GB variants are the sensible picks - 4GB RAM in 2026 feels constrained with modern apps running in the background. All variants accept a microSD card for expansion, and dual-SIM models typically use a dedicated slot arrangement worth confirming on the unit.

Camera Features

The headline is the 50MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture, PDAF autofocus and - unusually for this price - optical image stabilization (OIS). OIS reduces blur in low-light photos and steadies handheld video, and it is the single biggest camera advantage the A24 holds over most rivals in its class. It is joined by a 5MP ultrawide (f/2.2) for landscapes and group shots and a 2MP macro for close-ups. Video tops out at 1080p at 30fps - there is no 4K recording. The 13MP front camera (f/2.2) handles selfies and video calls competently in good light.

Battery and Charging

A 5,000mAh battery paired with the efficient 6nm Helio G99 gives the A24 genuinely strong endurance - Samsung claimed more than two days of normal use, and a full day of heavy use is realistic. Charging is 25W wired, which refills roughly half the battery in 30 minutes; a full charge takes around 80-85 minutes. The box includes only a USB cable; the 25W charger is sold separately. There is no wireless charging.

Software and Updates

The Galaxy A24 launched with Android 13 and One UI 5.1. Samsung's update commitment at launch was four major OS upgrades and five years of security patches - one of the longest policies in the budget segment. That means units sold in 2023-2024 should still be receiving security updates through roughly 2028, and major Android version upgrades into 2027. When buying used, check the installed Android version and the last security patch date in Settings: a unit stuck on an old patch may have a modified or region-mismatched firmware.

Connectivity and Additional Features

Connectivity covers 4G LTE (dual SIM), dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS/GLONASS/Galileo/BeiDou, NFC (market dependent) and USB Type-C 2.0. The retained 3.5mm headphone jack and microSD slot are practical wins at this price. The side-mounted fingerprint sensor is quick, and face unlock is available as a convenience option. Samsung Knox provides hardware-backed security features that matter if you use banking apps.

Variants, Colours and Availability

Verified configurations: 4GB/128GB, 6GB/128GB and 8GB/128GB, all with microSD expansion. Colours announced globally were black, burgundy, green and silver; Pakistani retail stock centred on black and green variants. The Galaxy A24 launched in Pakistan in mid-2023 - new sealed stock is now scarce, so most listings today are used units.

Price in Pakistan and PTA Information

The store-listed price is Rs. 50,000, verified on the Galaxy A24 product page on 2026-10-11. The listing price matches the store's 2026-10-01 catalog snapshot, and Pakistan's used-phone market moves frequently - confirm the latest price with Zohaan Mobile Gallery before buying, and ask whether the unit is new or used and what warranty applies.

PTA: PTA approval is per device and IMEI, not per model - a phone is only usable on Pakistani networks long-term if its own IMEI shows "Compliant". Before paying, SMS the IMEI to 8484 and confirm the result. See how to check PTA approval and how to check IMEI.

Main Advantages and Limitations

Advantages:

• 6.5-inch Super AMOLED 90Hz display - best-in-class screen at this price
• 50MP main camera with OIS, rare in the budget segment
• 5,000mAh battery with 25W charging for two-day endurance
• Long software support: 4 OS upgrades + 5 years of security patches promised
• 3.5mm jack, microSD slot, side fingerprint sensor - practical features intact

Limitations:

• 4G only - the Helio G99 has no 5G modem
• Plastic build with no IP water/dust resistance rating
• 1080p video only, no 4K recording
• Charger not included in the box
• 2023 model - most current listings are used units, so inspect condition carefully

Who Should Consider This Phone?

Good fit: buyers who prioritize display quality and camera stability on a budget - students, media watchers, and anyone upgrading from an older LCD phone will feel the AMOLED + OIS difference immediately. It is also a sensible pick for areas without 5G coverage, where the 4G-only chip is no real sacrifice.

Look elsewhere if: you need 5G, want 4K video recording, or need water resistance - compare the Samsung collection for the A25 5G or A26 5G, or browse all mobiles for alternatives.

Final Verdict

The Galaxy A24 remains one of the smartest budget buys in Samsung's lineup: a 90Hz Super AMOLED screen and an OIS-equipped 50MP camera at this price are genuinely hard to beat, and the 5,000mAh battery plus long update support make it a phone that ages well. Its honest trade-offs are 4G-only connectivity, a plastic body with no IP rating, and 1080p-only video. If those don't bother you, it is excellent value - especially as a used buy.
