Oppo A73 5G — Full Specifications, Features & Price in Pakistan

Introduction

The Oppo A73 5G (late 2020) was among Oppo's first affordable 5G phones: Dimensity 720, a 6.5-inch 90Hz Full HD+ display, 8GB of RAM and a triple camera in a 177g body. (Not the A73 (2017) 4G — a completely different phone.) Six years on it lives on the used market, where its efficient chip and smooth display still appeal — priced as the 4G phone it effectively is in Pakistan.

Design and Build Quality

At 162.2 x 75 x 7.9 mm and 177 g, it is slim and light even by today's standards, with classic 2020 Oppo styling in Navy Black and Neon and a fast side-mounted fingerprint sensor. On a used unit, inspect the glossy back for deep scratches and the frame for bends — this generation dents more easily than current designs.

Display Features

A 6.5-inch IPS LCD at 1080 x 2400 (~405 ppi) and 90Hz — sharp text, smooth scrolling, decent brightness. It can't match AMOLED contrast, but among used phones at this price it holds up well. Check a used unit for dead pixels and uneven backlighting, common age issues on older LCDs.

Processor and Performance

The Dimensity 720 (7 nm) — octa-core with Mali-G57 MC3 — was a strong 2020 mid-range chip and stays competent: messaging, browsing, streaming and social apps run smoothly, moderate games play at sensible settings, and 7nm efficiency keeps heat down. Not a match for 2023+ chips, but one of the better used-market picks from its era.

RAM and Storage

8GB of RAM with 128GB storage, expandable via microSDXC — a single generous configuration. The 8GB RAM is a real used-market advantage, keeping multitasking smooth where 4GB rivals of the era now stutter. 128GB covers most users' apps and photos.

Camera Features

Triple rear: 16MP f/2.2 main with PDAF + 8MP ultrawide + 2MP depth. Daylight shots are decent though the sensor shows its age against modern 50MP units; the ultrawide — rare at this used price — is genuinely useful. Night shots are weak. 8MP front; video 1080p@30fps.

Battery and Charging

4040 mAh was average in 2020 and is small now; six years of ageing makes real-world endurance the biggest question mark. 18W charging is slow — well over 90 minutes for a full charge. Before buying, run several hours of screen-on time and watch the drain; a fast-dropping unit needs a battery replacement that may not be economical.

Software and Updates

Launched with Android 10 / ColorOS 7.2, upgradable to Android 12 / ColorOS 12 — where official support ended. Most essential apps still support Android 12, but the clock is ticking: install the apps you depend on before buying and confirm they run. Security patches are years out of date.

Connectivity and Additional Features

GSM/HSPA/LTE plus sub-6 GHz 5G, dual Nano-SIM. The honest position: 5G coverage in Pakistan is limited, so price it as a 4G device and treat 5G as a future bonus — never pay a premium for the badge. Also: dual-band Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 5.1 with aptX HD, multi-GNSS GPS, USB-C 2.0 OTG and a 3.5 mm jack. No NFC.

Variants, Colours and Availability

One configuration — 8GB + 128GB, dual Nano-SIM, microSD — in Navy Black and Neon. Simple, except for the naming trap: verify Settings > About phone shows the Dimensity 720 before agreeing on a price, so you don't pay 5G-model money for the 2017 A73.

Price in Pakistan and PTA Information

No verified current price exists. Third-party listings are stale and disagree (PhoneWorld Rs. 51,090, an old listing; Technologistan Rs. 76,903, a currency conversion). The store catalog (2026-10-01 import) lists Rs. 20,000 as reference only. On the used market, condition is everything — confirm the live price with the store and negotiate on what you verify in person.

A note on PTA approval: PTA registration is tied to the individual device and its IMEI, not to the model name. Two phones of the same model can have completely different tax and registration status, especially on the used market. Before paying, check the IMEI of the exact handset through the official PTA DIRBS channels and make sure the IMEI on the screen matches the phone in your hand. For background, see what PTA approval means, how to check PTA approval, and how to check an IMEI.

Zohaan Mobile Gallery offers a 7-day check warranty on used phones. Claims cover speaker/ringer issues; there is no claim for LCD/touch, dead/display, or camera/screen problems, no claims are accepted over phone calls, and the warranty applies to the same handset only. It is void on water or moisture damage, breakage, burning, physical damage, opening the phone, or unauthorised repair.

Main Advantages and Limitations

Advantages

• Dimensity 720 is still a capable 7nm chip for everyday use — smoother than most 2020 budget phones.
• 90Hz Full HD+ display was ahead of its class at launch and remains pleasant.
• Generous 8GB RAM with 128GB storage plus microSD expansion.
• Ultrawide camera included — rare on 2020 phones at this level.
• Light 177g body with a 3.5mm jack and side fingerprint reader.

Limitations

• 4040 mAh battery is small by 2026 standards, and a 2020 unit's battery will have degraded — test endurance in person.
• 18W charging is slow compared with modern 33W+ phones.
• 16MP main camera is modest; night photography is a weakness.
• Android 10-era software with no further official updates — check app compatibility.
• 5G is effectively unusable in Pakistan today, so pay 4G money for it.

Who Should Consider This Phone?

For budget buyers wanting a smooth 90Hz display and 8GB RAM for daily use — students, heavy social-media users, or anyone needing a dependable secondary phone. Not for buyers needing strong battery life (test first), night photographers, or anyone requiring years of guaranteed app support.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the price of the Oppo A73 5G in Pakistan?

There is no verified current price: third-party listings range from Rs. 51,090 (old) to Rs. 76,903 (a currency conversion), and the store catalog lists Rs. 20,000 as a reference. It is a used-market phone now — confirm the live price with the store and negotiate on condition.

Does the Oppo A73 5G support 5G?

Yes, it has a sub-6 GHz 5G modem, but 5G coverage in Pakistan is limited. Buy it for its 4G performance and treat 5G as a bonus, not a reason to pay extra.

Is the Oppo A73 5G the same as the Oppo A73?

No. The A73 5G (2020) uses the Dimensity 720 with a 90Hz display; the older A73 (2017) is a 4G phone with a Helio P23. They are completely different phones — check the chipset in Settings before agreeing on a price.

What processor does it use?

The MediaTek Dimensity 720 (7nm) with Mali-G57 MC3 graphics — efficient and still fine for daily tasks and moderate gaming.

How is the camera?

Triple rear setup led by a 16MP main camera with an 8MP ultrawide — decent in daylight, weak at night. The 8MP front camera covers selfies and video calls.

What about battery life?

4040 mAh with 18W charging was average in 2020; today, battery health varies by unit. Ask for a real-world drain test and inspect battery health before buying.

Is it PTA approved?

Only the specific unit's IMEI can tell you that. Check it through official PTA channels and match it to the phone in your hand.

Is it available at Zohaan Mobile Gallery?

It is listed in the store catalog. Confirm availability, condition and the confirmed price with the store directly.

Final Verdict

The Oppo A73 5G is a likeable used buy: Dimensity 720 efficiency, sharp 90Hz display, 8GB RAM and a 177g body at used money. Age shows in the small 4040 mAh battery, slow 18W charging and capped software — so battery-test any unit, verify the Dimensity 720 chipset, and price it as a 4G phone. Do that homework and it remains sensible value.
