Huawei Y5p — Full Specifications, Features & Price in Pakistan

The Huawei Y5p is the 2020 successor to the Y5 2019, bringing an octa-core Helio P22 chip, Android 10, and 32GB of storage — but with one major caveat: it runs Huawei Mobile Services instead of Google apps. This guide covers its verified specs, what HMS-only means for you, and its Pakistan price.

Design and Build Quality

The Y5p keeps the compact 5.45-inch 18:9 body at roughly 146.5 x 70.9 x 8.4 mm and 144 g — pocket-friendly by 2020 standards. The plastic body comes in three colours including Mint Green. There is no fingerprint sensor; face unlock is the biometric option. Build quality is typical budget Huawei: neat, light, and functional.

Display Features

The 5.45-inch 720 x 1440 IPS LCD (~295 ppi) is sharp enough for everyday use, with the 18:9 ratio suiting chats and feeds. It is a step back in size from the Y5 2019's 5.71-inch panel — Huawei positioned the Y5p as the compact, cheaper option. LCD contrast and brightness are average for the class.

Processor and Performance

The Helio P22 (12nm octa-core: 4x2.0 GHz + 4x1.5 GHz Cortex-A53, PowerVR GE8320) is the most capable chip in the Y5 line — eight cores and a modern 12nm process. Everyday apps run smoothly on 2GB of RAM, and light gaming is feasible at modest settings. For a budget 2020 phone this was solid performance; it remains the fastest Y5-series chip.

RAM and Storage

2GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage — double the base storage of the Y5 2019 — is a genuinely useful configuration for a budget phone. The microSDXC slot uses a shared SIM slot, so you choose between a second SIM and expanded storage. 32GB internal is enough for a reasonable app collection without immediate expansion.

Camera Features

The 8MP f/2.0 rear camera with autofocus and LED flash is a step down from the Y5 2019's 13MP f/1.8 unit — this is where Huawei cut costs. Daylight photos are acceptable; low-light shots are noisy. The 5MP f/2.2 front camera covers selfies and video calls. Video is 1080p at 30fps. Manage expectations: this is a basic camera, not the Y5 2019's upgraded one.

Battery and Charging

The 3,020mAh non-removable battery with the efficient 12nm chip delivers a full day of typical use. Charging is microUSB 2.0 with no fast charging — dated even for 2020, so expect a couple of hours for a full charge.

Software and Updates

Android 10 with EMUI 10.1 is the newest software in the Y5 line — but it comes with the defining caveat: no Google Play Services. The Y5p runs Huawei Mobile Services with Huawei's AppGallery instead of the Play Store. Many popular apps are available in AppGallery or as direct APKs, but Google apps (Gmail, Maps, YouTube) and apps that depend on Google services — including some banking apps — will not work properly. Check every must-have app's HMS compatibility before buying; this is the single most important buying consideration for the Y5p.

Connectivity and Additional Features

4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with Wi-Fi Direct and hotspot, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS with GLONASS, 3.5mm jack, and microUSB 2.0. FM radio availability varies by source and was not officially confirmed — do not count on it. There is no NFC.

Variants, Colours and Availability

The Y5p shipped as 2GB + 32GB (model DRA-LX9) in Mint Green, Midnight Black, and Phantom Blue. Two things to get right: it is not related to the Huawei Nova 5T — that is a completely different, higher-end phone; verify the model code DRA-LX9 on the unit. And it is a different proposition from the Y5 2019: newer chip and software, but Google-free.

Price in Pakistan and PTA Information

The Y5p is discontinued. WhatMobile Pakistan's comparison pages list it around Rs. 14,100 (verified 2026-10-11), while Yahoo Mobile lists Rs. 22,700 — figures vary because the phone is no longer officially sold. The store's internal catalog carries a used-stock reference of around Rs. 8,000 (2026-10-01 import, not an independently verified market price). Treat all of these as estimates and confirm the actual price with the store.

PTA: PTA approval applies per device and IMEI, not per model. Before paying, send the phone's IMEI to 8484 and confirm "Compliant" status. How to check PTA approval.

Main Advantages and Limitations

Advantages:

• Helio P22 octa-core — the fastest chip in the Y5 line
• Android 10 with EMUI 10.1 — newest Y5 software
• 32GB storage as standard
• Compact 5.45-inch body

Limitations:

• No Google Play Services — HMS only; some apps will not work
• 8MP camera is a step down from the Y5 2019
• microSD uses a shared SIM slot
• No fingerprint sensor, no fast charging, microUSB

Who Should Consider This Phone?

Good fit: a buyer who is comfortable with Huawei's AppGallery ecosystem — or who only needs calls, messaging, browsing, and preinstalled apps — and wants the newest, fastest Y5 hardware.

Look elsewhere if: you depend on Google apps or Google-dependent banking apps. In that case the Y5 2019 (full Google services) from the all mobiles collection is the safer pick — verify HMS compatibility first either way.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the price of the Huawei Y5p in Pakistan?

Discontinued — estimates range from Rs. 14,100 (WhatMobile) to Rs. 22,700 (Yahoo Mobile). The store's catalog carries a used-stock reference of around Rs. 8,000; confirm the actual price with Zohaan Mobile Gallery.

Does the Huawei Y5p have Google Play Store?

No. The Y5p runs Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) with AppGallery — there is no Google Play Store and no Google Play Services.

Can I use WhatsApp and Facebook on the Y5p?

These apps can generally be installed via AppGallery or APK, but apps that depend on Google Play Services may misbehave. Test your specific apps on the unit before buying.

Is the Y5p the same as the Nova 5T?

No — they are completely different phones. The Y5p (DRA-LX9) is a budget Helio P22 phone; the Nova 5T is a higher-end Kirin 980 phone. Verify the model code.

What are the Y5p specifications?

5.45-inch 720x1440 display, Helio P22 octa-core, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage, 8MP/5MP cameras, 3,020mAh battery, Android 10, HMS only, 4G LTE.

Is it better than the Y5 2019?

It has a faster chip and newer software, but a weaker camera and no Google services. For most buyers, the Y5 2019's full Google support matters more than the Y5p's chip advantage.

Does it support a memory card?

Yes, microSDXC — but it uses a shared SIM slot, so it is one extra SIM or storage, not both.

Is it PTA approved?

PTA status is per-device. Verify the specific unit's IMEI by SMS to 8484 before purchase.

Final Verdict

The Huawei Y5p is the fastest, newest Y5 — and the only one without Google apps. That single fact decides everything: if you live comfortably in Huawei's ecosystem, it is a capable budget phone; if you need Google services, buy the Y5 2019 instead. Confirm your apps work on HMS before you pay.
