Design and Build Quality

The Y5 Lite 2018 shares the Y5 2018's slim 18:9 body: 146.5 x 70.9 x 8.3 mm, 142 g, plastic back and frame with a glass front. It is light and comfortable to hold, available in Black and Blue. Like its sibling, there is no fingerprint sensor — security is PIN, pattern, or password.

Display Features

The 5.45-inch 720 x 1440 LCD at ~295 ppi is sharp for the class, and the 18:9 ratio gives extra vertical space for chats and feeds. It is the same panel as the Y5 2018 — perfectly serviceable for everyday use, though blacks are LCD-grey and outdoor brightness is average.

Processor and Performance

The MediaTek MT6739 with 1GB of RAM would be tight on full Android — which is exactly why this phone runs Android Go. Go edition's lighter system apps (Maps Go, Gmail Go, YouTube Go) are tuned for 1GB devices, so basic tasks feel smoother than the RAM figure suggests. Still, this is a light-use phone: a few apps at a time, no heavy games.

RAM and Storage

1GB RAM and 16GB storage is the minimum viable configuration, made workable by Android Go's smaller footprint. The dedicated microSD slot (up to 256GB) keeps media off the internal storage without sacrificing a SIM slot. Go-edition apps also take less space — a thoughtful pairing for this hardware.

Camera Features

The 8MP f/2.0 rear camera with PDAF autofocus and LED flash captures decent daylight photos and 1080p video. The 5MP f/2.2 front camera has an LED flash for dim selfies. Performance is on par with the Y5 2018's camera — fine for everyday snapshots, limited after dark.

Battery and Charging

The 3,020mAh battery is generous for this hardware class, and Android Go's lighter background activity stretches it further — a full day of typical light use is realistic. Charging is microUSB 2.0 with no fast charging.

Software and Updates

Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition) with EMUI 8 is the defining feature: a full Google experience (Play Store included) optimized for 1GB RAM. It launched in 2018, so Google services are complete. No major updates followed, and while Go apps keep it usable, the underlying Android 8.1 is unpatched — test banking apps on the unit before relying on it.

Connectivity and Additional Features

4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, FM radio, 3.5mm jack, and microUSB 2.0. Dual Nano-SIM plus a dedicated microSD slot is a strong combination for a budget dual-number phone.

Variants, Colours and Availability

The Y5 Lite 2018 came only as 1GB + 16GB (model DRA-LX5) in Black and Blue. Do not confuse it with the Y5 Prime 2018: the Prime has a 13MP camera, 2GB RAM, and full (non-Go) Android 8.1 — a meaningfully better phone that sometimes appears at a similar used price. The Y5 Lite is essentially the Go-edition twin of the standard Y5 2018.

Price in Pakistan and PTA Information

The Y5 Lite 2018 is discontinued with no verified current Pakistan retail price. Used units trade at budget levels; the store's internal catalog carries a used-stock reference of around Rs. 5,000 (2026-10-01 import, not an independently verified market price). Confirm the actual price with the store.

PTA: PTA approval applies per device and IMEI, not per model. Before paying, send the phone's IMEI to 8484 and confirm "Compliant" status. How to check PTA approval.

Main Advantages and Limitations

• Android Go edition — tuned for smooth 1GB performance
• Same 5.45-inch 18:9 display as the Y5 2018
• Dedicated microSD slot with dual Nano-SIM
• 3,020mAh battery with light Go-edition power draw

Limitations:

• Only 1GB RAM — full apps beyond Go editions will struggle
• Entry-level MT6739 chip
• No fingerprint sensor, no fast charging
• 8MP single camera, weak in low light

Who Should Consider This Phone?

Good fit: a first-time smartphone user or a backup-phone buyer who wants the smoothest possible 1GB experience — Android Go is genuinely better suited to this hardware than full Android would be.

Look elsewhere if: you can find a Y5 Prime 2018 near the same price — its 2GB RAM, 13MP camera, and full Android 8.1 are worth the step up. Compare both in the all mobiles collection.
