Huawei Nova 5 — Full Specifications, Features & Price in Pakistan

The Huawei Nova 5 was the debut phone for the 7nm Kirin 810 chip, with a 6.39-inch OLED display, quad cameras, and 40W SuperCharge — flagship-grade hardware in a mid-range body. But it launched in June 2019, just after Google's restrictions on Huawei began, which makes its Google apps status the single most important thing to check. This guide covers its verified specs and the honest caveats for Pakistani buyers.

Design and Build Quality

The Nova 5 pairs a glass front and back with an aluminium frame in a slim 7.3mm body. The 6.39-inch OLED with a small waterdrop notch and an in-display fingerprint sensor gave it a true flagship feel in 2019 — this was the first Nova that looked and felt premium rather than mid-range. Gradient Purple and Green finishes were the standouts. Note that Huawei dropped the 3.5mm headphone jack on this model, so check whether the unit includes a USB-C audio adapter.

Display Features

The 6.39-inch OLED at 1080 x 2340 is the best display in this article's batch: deep blacks, strong contrast, DCI-P3 wide colour, and TÜV Rheinland eye-comfort certification. Next to the IPS panels of the Nova 3/4 series, the difference is immediately visible in videos and photos. No high refresh rate (60Hz), but the OLED panel quality more than compensates at this used price.

Processor and Performance

The Kirin 810 was a landmark chip — the world's fourth 7nm mobile SoC — and it benchmarked ahead of the Snapdragon 730 in 2019. In 2026 it remains the fastest chip among the phones in this batch: everyday use is smooth, and it handles moderate gaming (PUBG-style titles at balanced settings) better than the Kirin 970 or 710. The dedicated Da Vinci NPU also speeds up AI camera features. For a used phone, this is genuinely capable hardware.

RAM and Storage

8GB of RAM with 128GB of storage is the single configuration — generous RAM that keeps multitasking smooth even today. Expansion uses Huawei's proprietary Nano Memory card (up to 256GB) in the hybrid SIM slot, not standard microSD — NM cards are harder to find and pricier than microSD, so treat the 128GB as effectively fixed.

Camera Features

Quad rear cameras: a 48MP main sensor, 16MP ultrawide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor, with 4K video and a handheld super-night mode. The 32MP front camera added portrait super-night mode for selfies. In daylight this is the best camera system in the batch; the ultrawide and macro add real versatility. Low light is decent with night mode but can't match modern phones. As always on used units, test all four rear lenses — sellers rarely check the macro and depth sensors.

Battery and Charging

3,500 mAh sounds small, but 40W SuperCharge is the standout — roughly 50% in 15 minutes and 85% in 30 minutes when new, dramatically faster than any other phone here. Real-world endurance on a used unit is a day of moderate use. Fast top-ups make the smaller capacity livable, but confirm the seller includes the original 40W charger — standard chargers won't hit those speeds.

Software and Updates

Android 9 Pie with EMUI 9.1, and no major upgrades followed. Now the critical caveat: the Nova 5 launched on June 21, 2019 — after the May 16, 2019 US restrictions on Huawei took effect. Phones released after that date generally do not ship with Google Mobile Services. Some individual units may have Google apps installed by other means, but there is no guarantee. Before buying, power on the actual unit and check for the Play Store yourself — do not take a seller's word for it. If Google apps are essential to you, the Nova 4e (March 2019) is the safer buy.

Connectivity and Additional Features

4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX HD, GPS/GLONASS/BDS, USB Type-C with OTG. No 5G, no NFC on most variants, and no 3.5mm headphone jack (per most listings — a few aggregators list one, so check the unit). In-display optical fingerprint sensor plus face unlock.

Variants, Colours and Availability

Single main configuration: 8GB + 128GB. Colours: Black, Purple, Green. The Nova 5 launched in China in June 2019 alongside the Nova 5 Pro and Nova 5i; it was never officially launched in Pakistan, so all local units are imports. Don't confuse it with the Nova 5 Pro (Kirin 980, faster) or the Nova 5i (Kirin 710F, IPS screen, bigger battery).

Price in Pakistan and PTA Information

At launch the Nova 5 cost CNY 2,799 (~Rs. 68,000 at 2019 rates, per WhatMobile). WhatMobile's old "expected" listing was Rs. 79,999. No current new price exists. Zohaan Mobile Gallery's catalog reference is Rs. 17,999 (2026-10-01 used-condition reference — not a live market price). Confirm the actual price, Google apps status, and included charger with the store.

PTA: per-device, per-IMEI — and all Pakistan units are imports, so verify carefully. SMS the IMEI to 8484 and confirm "Compliant" before paying. How to check PTA approval.

• Quad camera with ultrawide + macro; 32MP selfie camera

Limitations:

• Google apps NOT guaranteed — launched after May 2019 restrictions; verify on the actual unit
• No 3.5mm headphone jack
• Proprietary Nano Memory cards instead of microSD
• No software or security updates for years
• Import-only in Pakistan — parts harder to source; PTA must be verified

Who Should Consider This Phone?

Good fit: buyers who prioritise display and camera quality in a used phone and can live without guaranteed Google apps — or who are comfortable with Huawei's AppGallery and alternatives. The OLED screen, Kirin 810, and 40W charging make it the most "modern-feeling" used Nova here.

Look elsewhere if: you need the Play Store and banking apps working out of the box — get the Nova 4e instead — or you want a headphone jack and microSD. Compare all used mobiles at Zohaan Mobile Gallery.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the price of Huawei Nova 5 in Pakistan?

Does the Nova 5 have Google Play Store?

Not guaranteed. It launched in June 2019, after the May 2019 US restrictions — most units do not ship with Google Mobile Services. Check the actual phone in person before buying.

What is the difference between Nova 5 and Nova 5 Pro?

The Pro uses the faster flagship Kirin 980 chip (vs Kirin 810), offers a 256GB storage option, and came in an Orange colour. Screens, cameras, battery, and charging are otherwise the same.

How fast is the charging?

40W Huawei SuperCharge — about 85% in 30 minutes when new. Confirm the 40W charger is included; ordinary chargers charge much slower.

Does it have a headphone jack?

No, per most listings — though a few spec aggregators list one, so check the actual unit. Plan on USB-C or Bluetooth audio.

Can storage be expanded?

Only with Huawei's proprietary Nano Memory card (up to 256GB), not standard microSD. NM cards are harder to find.

Final Verdict

The Nova 5 is the best hardware in this batch — OLED display, 7nm Kirin 810, quad cameras, 40W charging — at a used price that undercuts far weaker new phones. But its June 2019 launch date makes Google apps a genuine gamble, and that single caveat defines whether it's right for you. If you've checked the actual unit and Google services work (or you don't need them), it's an excellent used buy. If the Play Store is non-negotiable and you can't verify it in person, buy the Nova 4e instead.
