Huawei Nova 2s — Full Specifications, Features & Price in Pakistan

The Huawei Nova 2s launched in China in December 2017 as the premium Nova of its year — a Kirin 960 flagship chip (the same as the P10), four cameras, a 6-inch 18:9 display, and Huawei SuperCharge. It never got a wide global release, so units in Pakistan are imports, and that brings one critical caveat: China-ROM units may lack Google apps while global-flashed units have them. This guide covers the verified specs, the used price, and how to check the Google-apps status before you pay.

Design and Build Quality

The Nova 2s is a metal-and-glass phone with a front-mounted fingerprint sensor below the 18:9 display — a 2017 flagship layout — plus Face Unlock. At 169 g and 7.5 mm it feels dense and premium, a clear step above the Nova 2 and 2 Plus. Colours include Black, Gray, Red, Blue and Rose Gold.

Display Features

The 6.0-inch 18:9 panel at 1080 x 2160 (~402 ppi) is sharp and modern-feeling even in 2026 — slim bezels, good viewing angles, and enough brightness for indoor use. It is the best display of the Nova 2 family: bigger and sharper than the Plus, far ahead of the Lite. For media on a sub-Rs. 10,000 used phone, this screen is the 2s's standout feature.

Processor and Performance

The Kirin 960 — Huawei's 2017 flagship chip, shared with the P10 — with up to 6GB of RAM makes the 2s the fastest Nova 2-series phone by a wide margin. In 2026 it handles everyday apps, multitasking and even moderate games far better than the Kirin 659 and Snapdragon 430 siblings. It will not match a modern mid-range chip, but for a used phone near Rs. 10,000, the performance headroom is genuinely useful and extends the phone's usable life.

RAM and Storage

Three configurations exist — 4GB/64GB, 6GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB — plus microSD up to 256GB via the hybrid SIM 2 slot. The 6GB/128GB variant is the one to hunt for: it is the most future-proof of the family and worth a small premium. Always verify the actual RAM and storage in the phone's Settings, since sellers sometimes mislabel variants.

Camera Features

Four cameras: a 16MP RGB + 20MP monochrome rear pair (both f/1.8) that combine for sharper, more detailed shots than the Nova 2's setup, and a 20MP + 2MP front pair with its own LED flash for portrait selfies. This is the best camera system of the Nova 2 family — daylight detail is genuinely good, and the monochrome sensor helps contrast. Night shooting remains limited by 2017 sensor tech, but it beats every sibling here.

Battery and Charging

3,340mAh with Huawei SuperCharge (9V/2A) — 50% in about 30 minutes when new, via USB Type-C. Fast charging on a used phone this cheap is a real perk. The usual age warning applies: verify battery health or replacement, since an eight-year-old cell will not match these figures. A replaced battery plus SuperCharge makes the 2s's endurance the best of the family.

Software and Updates

EMUI 8.0 on Android 8.0 Oreo — and here is the critical check: global/flashed units have full Google Mobile Services, but China-ROM units may not. Before paying, open the phone and confirm the Play Store is present and working; do not take the seller's word for it. App compatibility on Android 8 is better than on Android 7, but still shrinking — test your essential apps on the unit.

Connectivity and Additional Features

4G LTE (no 5G), dual nano-SIM or SIM + microSD, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 with aptX, NFC, GPS, USB Type-C, 3.5mm headphone jack — the most complete connectivity of the family, NFC included. Front fingerprint sensor plus Face Unlock. No FM radio listed. For a used flagship-tier 2017 phone, the spec sheet holds up well.

Variants, Colours and Availability

Variants: 4GB + 64GB (CNY 2,699 at launch), 6GB + 64GB (CNY 2,999), and 6GB + 128GB (CNY 3,499), in Black, Gray, Red, Blue and Rose Gold. The 6GB/128GB is the desirable used buy. Remember: this was a China-first release, so confirm both the variant and the ROM's Google-apps status on the exact unit.

Price in Pakistan and PTA Information

The Nova 2s was discontinued years ago — it is only available in Pakistan as a used or refurbished unit. Zohaan Mobile Gallery's catalog lists it at approximately Rs. 9,999 (2026-10-01 catalog import price), but used prices move with the unit's condition, battery health, and accessories, so confirm the current price — and the exact condition of the piece in stock — with the store before buying. Never pay a new-phone price for a 2017 model.

Google-apps check: China-ROM units may lack Google Mobile Services — verify the Play Store works on the exact unit before paying; do not rely on the listing title.

PTA: PTA approval applies per device and IMEI, not per model. Before paying, send the phone's IMEI to 8484 and confirm "Compliant" status. How to check PTA approval.

Used-unit checklist: check the IMEI via 8484 for PTA status, test the fingerprint sensor and both cameras, inspect the charging port, and ask about the battery — a 9-year-old battery may hold far less than its rated capacity. Zohaan Mobile Gallery provides a 7-day check warranty on used phones.

Main Advantages and Limitations

Advantages:

• Kirin 960 flagship chip + up to 6GB RAM — fastest of the Nova 2 family
• Quad cameras: 16+20MP rear, 20+2MP front with flash — best cameras here
• 6.0-inch 1080p 18:9 display, sharp and modern-feeling
• SuperCharge fast charging over USB-C; NFC included
• 6GB/128GB variant is excellent value near Rs. 10,000 used

Limitations:

• China-ROM units may lack Google apps — must verify per unit
• No security updates for years; Android 8 app compatibility shrinking
• Eight-year-old battery is a gamble
• No 5G; import-only history means mixed unit conditions
• Heavier and more fragile (glass back) than siblings

Who Should Consider This Phone?

Good fit: the buyer who wants the most phone for ~Rs. 10,000 used — best screen, best cameras and best performance of the Nova 2 family — and who will verify the Google-apps status and battery in person.

Look elsewhere if: you cannot inspect the unit yourself (the ROM caveat makes blind buying risky) — or you need a primary daily driver, in which case browse newer used options.
