Huawei Nova 2 Plus — Full Specifications, Features & Price in Pakistan

The Huawei Nova 2 Plus launched alongside the Nova 2 in May 2017 as its bigger brother — a 5.5-inch 1080p display, double the storage at 128GB, and a larger 3,340mAh battery, with the same dual camera and 20MP selfie shooter. Discontinued for years, it now trades only as a used phone in Pakistan, where its full Google Mobile Services keep it relevant against newer HarmonyOS Huaweis. This guide covers the verified specs, the used price, and how it compares to the standard Nova 2.

Design and Build Quality

The Nova 2 Plus stretches the Nova 2 formula to 5.5 inches in a slim 6.9 mm metal body at 169 g — still comfortable, with the rear fingerprint sensor exactly where the index finger lands. WhatMobile's listing notes a light pink option among the colours. On used units, inspect the larger screen for dead pixels and the metal back for dents; the bigger glass is more vulnerable than the compact Nova 2's.

Display Features

The 5.5-inch LTPS IPS LCD at 1080 x 1920 (~401 ppi) is sharp and pleasant — better for YouTube, reading and split-screen than the standard Nova 2's 5.0-inch panel, and far sharper than the Nova 2 Lite's 720p screen. It is the best display of the three 2017-era Novas here. Brightness is fine indoors; like its siblings it cannot match a modern AMOLED outdoors.

Processor and Performance

The same Kirin 659 and 4GB of RAM as the Nova 2, so performance is identical: fine for calls, WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube and browsing; slow for heavy multitasking and modern games. You are paying the small premium over the Nova 2 for the bigger screen, bigger storage and bigger battery — not for speed.

RAM and Storage

4GB of RAM with a generous 128GB of internal storage — double the Nova 2 — plus microSD up to 256GB via the hybrid SIM 2 slot. For a used phone under Rs. 8,000, 128GB built-in is excellent: room for apps, offline videos and photos without immediately needing a card. This is the Plus's strongest practical advantage.

Camera Features

Identical cameras to the Nova 2: dual 12MP + 8MP rear with phase-detection AF and LED flash, and a 20MP front camera. Daylight photos are decent, selfies are good in good light, and night shots are weak — no OIS, no night mode. The bigger screen makes the Plus nicer for reviewing and editing photos, but the image quality itself matches the standard model.

Battery and Charging

3,340mAh with fast charging — the largest battery of the Nova 2 trio, and it showed when new. But the same warning applies: after nine years, capacity may be far below rated. Ask about battery health or replacement; a fresh battery in the Plus gives genuinely good endurance thanks to the efficient chip and LCD. Without one, keep a power bank nearby.

Software and Updates

EMUI 5.1 on Android 7 with full Google Mobile Services — Play Store, Gmail, Maps and YouTube all work, which keeps the Plus viable where newer Huaweis are not. No security updates for years, so avoid banking and sensitive accounts on it. Confirm your essential apps still install on Android 7 before buying — compatibility narrows every year.

Connectivity and Additional Features

4G LTE (no 5G), dual nano-SIM or SIM + microSD, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, FM radio, 3.5mm headphone jack, micro-USB charging, and the rear fingerprint sensor. The full 2017 connectivity checklist — everything needed for a backup or media phone, nothing modern like USB-C or NFC-based payments to miss.

Variants, Colours and Availability

The single main variant is 4GB + 128GB. Do not confuse it with the standard Nova 2 (5.0-inch, 64GB, 2,950mAh) — the Plus is bigger in screen, storage and battery, and used prices differ accordingly. The Nova 2s is a separate, higher-end 2017 model with a Kirin 960.

Price in Pakistan and PTA Information

The Nova 2 Plus was discontinued years ago — it is only available in Pakistan as a used or refurbished unit. Zohaan Mobile Gallery's catalog lists it at approximately Rs. 7,999 (2026-10-01 catalog import price), but used prices move with the unit's condition, battery health, and accessories, so confirm the current price — and the exact condition of the piece in stock — with the store before buying. Never pay a new-phone price for a 2017 model.

PTA: PTA approval applies per device and IMEI, not per model. Before paying, send the phone's IMEI to 8484 and confirm "Compliant" status. How to check PTA approval.

Used-unit checklist: check the IMEI via 8484 for PTA status, test the fingerprint sensor and both cameras, inspect the charging port, and ask about the battery — a 9-year-old battery may hold far less than its rated capacity. Zohaan Mobile Gallery provides a 7-day check warranty on used phones.

Google apps: the Nova 2 Plus launched before Huawei's 2019 restrictions, so it ships with full Google Mobile Services — Google Play, Gmail, YouTube and Maps all work. That is a genuine advantage over Huawei's newer HarmonyOS phones, and the main reason these old Novas still sell as used units.

Main Advantages and Limitations

Advantages:

• Full Google Mobile Services — Play Store works
• 128GB built-in storage — double the Nova 2, rare this cheap used
• 5.5-inch 1080p display: the sharpest screen of the budget Nova trio
• 3,340mAh battery — biggest of the three
• Slim 6.9 mm metal body with rear fingerprint sensor

Limitations:

• Same aging Kirin 659/Android 7 as the Nova 2 — slow by 2026
• Nine-year-old battery is a gamble without replacement
• No 5G, micro-USB, no security updates
• Cameras identical to the cheaper Nova 2 — no upgrade there
• Used-only: screen and body condition vary

Who Should Consider This Phone?

Good fit: buyers who want the Nova 2 experience with a bigger screen and much more storage — a media-and-WhatsApp phone, or a backup with room for offline video.

Look elsewhere if: you need speed or a primary daily driver — the Plus is not faster than the Nova 2, just bigger; browse newer used options.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the price of Huawei Nova 2 Plus in Pakistan?

Only as a used phone: approximately Rs. 7,999 per Zohaan Mobile Gallery's catalog (2026-10-01 import). Condition determines the final price — confirm with the store.

What is the difference between Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus?

The Plus has a larger 5.5-inch display (vs 5.0-inch), 128GB storage (vs 64GB), and a 3,340mAh battery (vs 2,950mAh). Chip, RAM and cameras are the same.

Does it have Google Play Store?

Yes — full Google Mobile Services, as it launched in 2017.

What are its key specifications?

5.5-inch 1080p display, Kirin 659, 4GB RAM + 128GB storage (microSD up to 256GB), dual 12+8MP rear camera, 20MP front camera, 3,340mAh battery.

Is 128GB storage enough in 2026?

For a backup/media phone, yes — it is generous at this used price, and microSD adds more via the hybrid slot.

Final Verdict

The Nova 2 Plus is the sensible pick of the 2017 Nova trio for buyers who value screen size and storage: 5.5-inch 1080p, 128GB built-in, and the biggest battery of the three, for roughly Rs. 8,000 used. It is not faster or better-photographed than the standard Nova 2 — you are buying size and storage. Check the screen, verify the IMEI, and confirm the battery's story before paying.
