Huawei Mate 40 Pro — Full Specifications, Features & Price in Pakistan

The Huawei Mate 40 Pro is Huawei's last true global flagship: the 5nm Kirin 9000, a 6.76-inch 90Hz OLED, a 50MP Leica camera, and 66W + 50W charging — all in an IP68 body. It is also HMS-only, with no Google Play Services, which is the trade-off at the heart of every used Mate 40 Pro purchase in Pakistan. This guide covers verified specifications, Pakistan price context, and honest buying advice.

Key Specifications at a Glance

Design and Build Quality

The Mate 40 Pro keeps the dramatic 88-degree curved display sides of the Mate 30 Pro but refines them, with real power and volume buttons this time. Glass front and back with an aluminium frame, IP68 water and dust resistance (up to 1.5m for 30 minutes), and the "Space Ring" camera housing give it unmistakable flagship presence. At 212 g it feels substantial but balanced.

Display Features

The 6.76-inch OLED with 1344 x 2772 resolution (~456 ppi), HDR10, 90Hz refresh rate, and 240Hz touch sampling is sharp, fluid, and responsive — excellent for gaming and scrolling. Under-display fingerprint and 3D face unlock are both fast.

Processor and Performance

The Kirin 9000 (5 nm) was Huawei's final flagship chip — octa-core with a 3.13 GHz prime core, a full 24-core Mali-G78 GPU, and an integrated 5G modem. It remains genuinely fast: apps launch instantly, heavy games run at high settings, and efficiency is strong thanks to the 5nm process. For a used flagship in 2026, this is about as much performance as you can buy at this price tier.

RAM and Storage

8GB RAM with 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage, plus a Nano Memory card slot (up to 256GB, shared SIM slot). The 256GB variant is the sensible used buy — 128GB fills quickly with 4K video, while 512GB units command a premium. Note there is also a Mate 40 Pro 4G variant (Kirin 9000 4G, HarmonyOS in some regions) — verify the exact model with the seller.

Camera Features

The Leica camera system is the Mate 40 Pro's crown jewel: a 50MP Ultra Vision wide with OIS and a huge 1/1.28" sensor, a 20MP Cine ultrawide, a 12MP periscope telephoto with 5x optical zoom and OIS, and a TOF 3D depth sensor. Daylight and low-light stills are superb, the 5x periscope out-zooms most rivals of its era, and video goes to 4K@60fps with excellent stabilization.

Battery and Charging

The 4,400mAh battery charges at 66W wired and 50W wirelessly — wireless charging faster than many phones' wired speeds in 2020 — plus reverse wireless charging. A full charge takes well under an hour when the battery is healthy. On the used market, battery health is the make-or-break check: verify it before paying, since a degraded cell turns flagship charging into a footnote.

Software and Updates

Android 10 with EMUI 11 — and no Google Play Services. This is the single fact that defines the used Mate 40 Pro market: Huawei's last great hardware runs without the Play Store, Gmail, YouTube, or Maps. AppGallery, Petal Search, and sideloading cover a lot of ground, but Google-dependent banking and enterprise apps are the risk zone. The phone is also past its official update window — no new Android versions or current security patches.

Connectivity and Additional Features

Full 5G (Sub-6 SA/NSA), 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6+, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, IR blaster, and USB Type-C 3.1. Hybrid dual SIM — the second SIM slot doubles as the Nano Memory slot. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack on the Pro.

Variants, Colours and Availability

The Mate 40 Pro 5G came in 8GB + 128GB / 256GB / 512GB, in Mystic Silver, White, Black, Green, and Yellow. It is discontinued — Pakistan buyers will find used or old import units only. Verify the exact variant: the Mate 40 Pro 4G (no 5G) exists as a separate model, and listings sometimes mix them. Model numbers and the "5G" marking on the box help confirm.

Price in Pakistan and PTA Information

No verified current official Pakistan price exists — the Mate 40 Pro is discontinued. Its launch price was about €1,199 (8GB + 256GB); Pakistan launch-era pricing was correspondingly premium. Zohaan Mobile Gallery's internal catalog reference is Rs. 199,999 (reference only — not a current market price). Used prices vary by condition, variant, and battery health — confirm the latest price with Zohaan Mobile Gallery before buying.

PTA: PTA approval applies per device and IMEI, not per model. Before paying, send the phone's IMEI to 8484 and confirm "Compliant" status. How to check PTA approval.

Final Verdict

The Mate 40 Pro is Huawei's hardware peak — Kirin 9000 speed, a 5x periscope Leica camera, 66W/50W charging, and an IP68 curved OLED — at a fraction of its launch price on the used market. The verdict is binary: if you can live without Google Play Services, it is one of the best used flagships you can buy. If you cannot, no spec sheet changes that.
